Antonhão was married to the Kwaza Ko'nã or Konã'xu, or Nazaré, until she died of measles in 1982 at the approximate age of 40. Besides Kwaza, Antonhão speaks some Portuguese and probably Aikanã, but I worked with him mostly through his son Zezinho. With Antonhão I recorded traditional stories and personal history.
